Common Side Effects of Prostate Cancer Treatment

Cancer is one of the diseases that take out thousands of lives every year. Science is still on the way of discovering the concrete process to eliminate and get rid of cancer. At the same time, although there are given treatments on how to cure the disease, there are some hesitations on the process itself. Although several discoveries on the agents that might be the key to the cure of cancer, it is yet to be tested.

Let us take for instance prostate cancer. Prostate cancer develops only on the prostate glands, so it is only applicable for men. As prostate cancer progress, the patient may feel some side effect, or none at all.

During the actual process of removing the cancer or treating it, there are some side effects. Say for example, the patient decided to take the risk of undergoing chemotherapy.

Well, chemotherapy uses chemicals to treat the cancer. it is targeting the cancer cells, totally eliminating them one by one. During the process, some healthy cells are being affected as well. Thus, aside from treating the cancer cells, they are also eliminating the healthy cells.Another side effect of prostate cancer is directed towards sexual capabilities of a man.

If a patient is diagnosed with prostate cancer, due to the imbalance with the way the reproductive organ secretes hormone, man has less ability for erection. Thus, the sexual climax might not be reached.

Another thing is the inability of the bladder to hold the urine. In these instances, the bladder muscles become uncontrollable causing the urine to involuntarily exit out of the body. This is a common scenario since the bladder is near the prostate, and if cases where the cancer cells already reached the bladder, normally it will be a common side effect.

The physical, mental, emotional, and psychological exhaustion of the patient is incomparable. You know that you are uncertain if you will overcome the struggle of the disease. If you think that it is easy to be in a situation where you are dealing with life and death, you will not be physically stable. Even if you are an optimistic person, if your life is at stake, would you rather die without trying all the possibilities? The physical pain that a patient is going through is far beyond compare.

Constant vomiting, aches in different parts of the body, and dark spots incorporated with the disease is unconditional and might attack any time of the day. The unpredictable feeling if you will be alive or not or when are you going to rest completely is out of reach yet. It is so hard to manage different feelings when you are into prostate cancer.

The hazards of undergoing prostate cancer and its side effects are unpredictable. However, if you are on the edge of losing your own life, are you not going to grab even a single percentage to live? In most cases, these are just some of the side effects. There are good sides still wherein the patient recovers and eventually heals. It might be risky, but we have to take the risk for the love of life.
